Howard is a business lawyer who advises public and private companies, financial institution, and corporate boards on complex transactions and day-to-day corporate strategy.

Howard has a wide-ranging corporate commercial practice that focuses on securitizations involving all asset classes, public and private M&A, shareholder disputes and real estate financings. In economic downturns, Howard had guided his clients through numerous large and high profile CCAA and restructurings, including billions of dollars of CMBS transactions.

Howard is known for getting the deal done in an efficient and effective manner. Client’s turn to him for practical and novel solutions to their business issues and appreciate that he is always focused on their goals and in creating value for them.

COVID-19 and Performance of Contractual Obligations

As the global community works to respond to the challenges presented by the spread of COVID-19, many Canadian businesses have been impacted by market and supply chain disruptions, as well as government mandated travel and business restrictions. This article considers the utility of force majeure clauses in commercial contracts, and whether COVID-19 may be invoked as an excuse to non-perform, or delay the performance of, contractual obligations.
